This week i can probably say was the hardest week so far, having a new comp and having to show her the area and not knowing it super well was tough. I had some freak out moments for sure and my faith gets tested every single day. But it shows me how much i need to rely on my heavenly father. Which is EVERY single day EVERY single second. I know that even though times can be so stressful but if we just look at the small success in the day that's all that really matters. Focus on the good; not all the people that bailed on you... Ãnd the Lord will Provide, but of course in HIS own time :)
I have had a neat little break through with the language and understanding these wonderful people. haha. I was sitting in one lesson the other day and after i spoke, the woman started talking and i began to understand every word hahaha. I sat there thinking to myself like " Am I really understanding this right now?" yeah, it was super fun then responding after. But yeah still poco a poco with portuguese. The members just love when i mess up so they can help me, which is every second but its a great way to learn more. I have the ultimate NO SHAME. But sala, i love it.
Cool thing that happened was that a little lamb got named after me! Lopes (member)... he herds sheep and so a baby was born on Saturday and he called me saying guess what?!?! There's a new sheep and he named it Sister Elliott! (its the fastest one in the bunch).LOL Also B., our investigator is progressing super well! He hasn't smoked for 2 weeks now and he is looking to be baptized like way soon! I am stoked for him! Reminds me of my Granny who stopped drinking "just like that!" and put her trust in the Lord. She has been free from alcohol for more than 30 years now...amazing.
We don't have that many new investigators right now because we have been working on reactivating tons of people. Its sad, but the branch needs so much help. We have a new dupla in our area so its been a blessing having them. You can really take for granted living in a home where the parents stay together and raise their children in the Gospel. My mom and dad have been such inspirations with how they have raised us children and being in Portugal has really helped me see their strength and love for us kids and for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. You taught me well!! (~thanks Ash!)
Oh okay, another sweet thing! I got to go on divisions with the sister training leader Sister Mendas whom is from Cape Verde. Snap! That means ALL Portuguese and a lot of charades hahaha. But to be honest i loved it, she is amazing and the day went smoothly. There was a funny moment when i asked her in English if she liked to cook, and she said "cookies" ? She gets cooking and cookies really mixed up. We laughed for bit after that one. She is super sweet and i wouldn't mind having a native as a companion. The experience was good for me and afterwards my brain hurt haha but it was awesome.
But yeah, now onto another week in Portugal and a HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!! I love you all and i hope you have a fantastic week!
