Todo Bem Familia and Friends!
Oh my heavens what a crazy first week it has been so far in the MTC. I honestly have no idea where to even start. Lets just say my first days 2 days in the MTC, chapstick and advil where my best friends! I am not used to Utah so my lips were so chapped and I had a headache from these flipping bright lights alllll around the MTC. But you know me I just stuck it out and pushed forward.
My goodness it was such a crazy time coming into the MTC and then going straight to my Portuguese class. I literally have no time free time ever, we are constantly on the move to devotionals, class, eating, studying my brains out and everything else you could imagine.
Day one in my class i felt like i got a firehose to the face haha. I learned so much i just couldnt even handle it. We learned so much vocab plus how to say a prayer. By the end of our 4 hour language class we were finally done for the day. We knelt down as a class to say prayer and as soon as i knelt down i heard my name being called to say the prayer...IN PORTUGUESE...que?? haha (what)? So yes I had the opportunity to be the first to say the prayer haha and oh my it actually didn't go to bad. My teacher said Bem! Which means good! Thats was a relief.
For the rest of my letter i will probably just do mini highlights within the week because really its all such a blur and I have to go grab laundry lol.
So lets see also the first day I accidentally walked in on a girl talking her shower hahaha. (rookie mistake). I have been calling the Elders "Brothers" but finally caught myself and couldn't stop laughing.
My district is bomb! We have 6 sisters and 4 elders. sister runyan is my comp. she is from nor. cal and reminds me a ton my Madi. she loves to read and she loves doctor who. we get along great! Everyone in my district makes fun of me because since day one i have been speaking in a hispanic accent the whole time. I cant help it, once you start you cant stop haha. And when i talk normal they all freak out because they forgot what i really sound like. Mom i think you have basically found all my districts parents so good job haha. Keep in touch with them!
So this week you will not believe it but we have had 3 lesson already with an investigator. He is from Portugal and speaks 0 english (he does secretly) which bugs me when i am struggling with a word but whatever haha. helps me learn!
So ya the first lesson we had was so bad i cant even explain. it was the second day and i had no idea how to speak in portuguese. i felt like my comp and i didn't get through to him. And to be honest it was so frustrating. But then we heard that we were then going to be teaching him again so i was ready to rock it this time. I studied up and wrote down what i needed and we went in there confident that we can do this.
We taught about Joseph Smith and the first vision. when we went in there it was different, we started talking to him and everything went down hill from there. I could kinda tell what he was saying but could feel the spirit. I decided to read him the first vision from the portuguese book of mormon. half way through it i started to tear up because even though i had no idea what i was reading, the spirit was so overwhelming. L. (investigator) knew he felt what we were feeling as well. So ya you can say that the rest of the lesson went super well and we taught him yesterday as well. we taught him the plan of salvation.
i felt bad because i felt so sick yesterday and was pretty quiet but i literally had no room to talk or else i would have thrown up on him hahahaha. I am feeling a tad better but probably just not use to this food and stress and whatever else is going on haha.
Last minute things, I have a running buddy!!!!!!!!!!! We get to get run every morning and i freaking love my life haha. her name is sister dixon and she ran for BYU hawaii. She is in my district so its pretty sweet. Ehh we got to go to the temple for a walk around on sunday which was nice also. I will send pictures when I come back from laundry!
I can't tell you guys how much i love you! The dear elder letters literally make my day! I get them twice a day so send them whenever you want! They pump me up and give me so much motivation. I know that i am here for a reason. I know that i will be able to learn this flipping hard language because of my heavenly father. I love you guys with all my heart. I cant WAIT to talk to you guys next week :) send the love my way! I am praying in portuguese for all of you!
