Holy Smokes!
I am on to my 5th week here at the MTC and man on man I am super ready to be in Portugal! Well of course i am not super ready yet but i just cant wait.
This week has been kinda the same, i am still kicking butt in Portugues but also Portugues is also kicking my butt sometimes as well haha. But i am for sure hanging in..
So yes I finally found out that i have a flipping ulcer in my stomach which isn't fun but with a little medicine i am doing great now. I cant complain because there are 2 others sisters that have it way worse and so keep the sistas in your prayers. We just found out that they don't have to go home for surgery which is a huge blessing.
Okay some great insight that i have had this week, of course we had our devotionals every Sunday and Tuesday. But this past Sunday was different because it was fast Sunday! Holy molly it was way interesting because we fast for about 24 hours...Snap, lets just say during our free time all the sisters and I slept so much haha.
But really it was a good fast, and the dinner to break the fast was just so crazy. It was kinda like wild animals in a forest, grabbing everything they saw haha. That's the best way to describe the MTC break the fast.
But then we got to go to a fantastic devotional and I heard this wonderful talk about repentance. Lemmie give you a quick background story first. this week we have been teaching this investigator M, we recently asked her to be baptized (which was scary) but we did it. She has been having some issues with smoking and drinking and just doesn't feel worthy. My heart has been aching for her, i have been telling her so much about the repentance process and how much Christ loves her and his atoning sacrifice for her.
I have been bothered about it all week and then I went to this devotional and heard these sweet words. He gave an analogy of us in heaven. When we are being judged by Christ he asked us, "have we been good?" And as we say yes, "but there was this one time..." and you say your sin. He will look at you and say, "I don't remember that..."
The point to that story was that when we repent of our sins yes, we will still remember them, but Christ will forget. My goodness that touched me so much, and my love for my Savior grew tremendously. I felt the need to share Gramie and Papas conversion story with my investigator and how they're so strong in the church now and how if it weren't for them I wouldn't be able to have the opportunity to be a missionary today.
After that lesson with M she then accepted to be baptized. And of course I was happy as can be, I bore my testimony in my best Portuguese and the spirit was so strong.
I love this work and yes it is soooooo hard sometimes, but when see these investigators lives' change it's soooooo worth it. I love every minute here and cant wait to tell you more about Portugal in 2 weeks! I get my flight plans this Friday! And will be doing a Skype call with some members from Portugal, so keep me in your prayers!
Okay now for the highlights of the week!!
I still think I have the best district in the world, for our daily goals we are trying to get to class on time every single day. And if we don't we have to do 10 push-ups every min. we're late haha. I will either be ripped or not when I come back ;)
Then my companion's Aunt sent her some Nerf guns so of course I snagged one and went outside and snipped some elders with the Nerf guns haha, oh man it was just way to fun.
Also our whole district had the challenge of emptying one of the big cereal bins in the cafeteria--lets just say they were never going to eat frosted flakes every again. I think the most bowls that were eaten were about 12 bowls, gross.
Then every Sunday we watch chruch movie and this time my district of sisters when and watched the Joesph Smith story which was amazing. But the funny thing was that we had popcorn and all the elders were looking and everyone was dying of the yummy smell haha.
My gosh my favorite part of the week! Sister Dixon and I have become just the laughing sisters of the district, i don't think i can look at her without laughing. I remember this one time i was writing some letters on the stairs one night and she comes out to chat. well obviously we start dying laughing and all of a sudden she starts peeing her pants. Lets just say I have made her pee her pants 2x.
She is just the best ever and will brighten your day. Gotta love her.
Oh man and of course I got paired up with her during class time to teach her a lesson. I came up as a missionary while she was a random person on the street. As soon as I came up to her, she pretended she was blind. And then the laughing/Portuguese had begun.
Anyways I hope everyone had a fantastic week! I love you all, till next week!
